Welcome to Hickory Days

"...Step back in time and sample the golf game of yesteryear, enjoy the experience of an Open Championship Golf Course and, using traditional hickory clubs, play and walk in the footsteps of the 1909 and 1920 Open Champions J H Taylor and George Duncan at Royal Cinque Ports, Deal."

Hickory Days provide modern players with the opportunity to play the game as it was nearly one hundred years ago. Players are immersed in the Edwardian period from the moment they arrive until they leave.

Not only do they play with hickory wood shafted clubs, they dress in clothes from the era. Off the course, the refreshments and lunch and dinner menus all date from the period providing a chance to sample Edwardian catering at its best.

Further information about playing with hickory is given in the Hickory Game section, whilst for what a Hickory Golf Day day entails, refer to our Hickory Day section. The more prosaic information, such as fees and event managment is contained within our Other Information Section.

Hickory Golf Days have featured prominently in the golf and national media and many well known journalists who have sampled the joys, and occasional pain, of a day playing with Hickory have related their experiences on the pages of their respective magazines or newspaper, copies of which are on our media page.
